The Marimba is an idiophone instrument made up of wooden bars that are struck with yarn or rubber mallets. The bars are arranged similarly to a piano, with accidentals raised vertically to aid the performer. It has a lower-pitched tessitura compared to the xylophone and is often used in a variety of musical settings, including solo performances, ensembles, concertos, jazz groups, marching bands, and orchestral compositions.
